LCD Televisions – The Way of the Future

LCD Televisions – The Way of the Future
..Or Today?
Televisions we see today have come a long way from the good old monochromatic, sound-less picture tubes. The advent of the cathode ray tube technology in the television sets gave a new rise to transmitting high quality media over large distances with ease. The television sets used back then, mostly circa 1980s or earlier, used to be monochromatic (Black and White to be precise) and barely had any good sound emitting mechanisms. Even then, it was quite a revolutionary concept and had taken the propulsion of entertainment, news and media to a whole new level. It was the television that helped the masses discover about the latest developments happening across the globe or even an update for a soccer match next door.
With the progress and maturity in the ever growing technology, televisions were no longer the old black and white tube sitting at home. They were the talk of the town when the new LCDs were rolled out. The LCD televisions changed the way we watch the tube. It made the television set a lot thinner, faster (in terms of response) and much better looking (high contrast ratios and picture quality). The older CRT versions of the televisions were bulky, used to consume high amounts of power and used to generate a lot of heat during operation. Something new, slim, portable and better functioning was much needed.
One of the much appealing reasons to have a LCD television rather than a Cathode Ray Tube one is basically the health benefits that the former offers. The CRT televisions emit harmful radiations which hampers our eyesight in the long run, whereas LCDs operate on the principle of pixels, which alternate between on and off, giving us a clear image without harmful radiations. In terms of power usage, the LCD televisions use very little in comparison to a CRT screen.  The cost savings will definitely help businesses or users with multiple monitors or televisions.
So, what’re you still waiting for? Ditch that old CRT and go get yourself a swanky new LCD TV set today!
