How to Select the Perfect HDTV

Now that you've discovered the three reasons why you should get an HDTV set, you might now wonder how to go about selecting the perfect HDTV set. High definition television is a wonderful experience that you'll be able to enjoy for many years to come. However, in order to get there, you'll need to take time to research your options and take the tips in this guide seriously.

First, you want to think about how large you want your HDTV set to be. This will be constrained by the limits of space in your home. An HDTV set that is too small will not be able to deliver the experience you're looking for, while a set that is too large won't fit properly in the space you have allocated for the new TV set. Generally, if you can work out the right budget, an HDTV set should be at least 40" wide.

Next, you want to choose what actual format your HDTV set should be. There's two main versions: LCD TVs and Plasma. There's plenty of debate on which is the better format to purchase, but there are numerous benefits that mark LCD-based HDTVs as the clear winner. The biggest benefit that LCD-based HDTVs bring to the table is the fact that they're lighter and thinner than plasma TVs. If that's an important detail for you, then you'll want to stick to LCD TV. If you can handle the extra weight of plasma and want deeper dark colors than what's offered by LCD TVs, then that might be a better route to take. However, keep in mind that both formats improve every day, so it's always good to check back on each as time passes.

Finally, you will want to think about the resolution for your new HDTV set. There are essentially two different resolution types to look for: 720p and 1080p. The latter is the higher resolution and is best for larger screens, while the former is better for smaller screens. The best one will also depend on your budget — if you can afford a large high definition TV, you will do well to get one that operates at 1080p. This will allow you to get the most out of the new high definition programming.

All things considered, an HDTV is a great addition to your home. With the information in this guide, you should have no problem getting the perfect HDTV that's right for you!
